Boston Bombing Suspect Guilty On All Counts

Boston marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty of all charges on April 8, 2015.

According to CNN, the jurors deliberated for 11 ½ hours before reaching their verdict Wednesday.

Tsarnaev was charged with 30 counts of criminal activity which included: Conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, resulting in death; use of a weapon of mass destruction (Pressure Cooker Bomb #1), resulting in death; and aiding and abetting; possession and use of a firearm (Pressure Cooker Bomb #1) during and in relation to a crime of violence, resulting in death; and aiding and abetting; and carjacking, resulting in serious bodily injury; aiding and abetting.

Jurors found Tsarnaev guilty on all 30 counts. 17 of the charges carry the possibility of the death penalty.

Details from inside of the courtroom were sparse and tensions mounted as the judge readied himself to read off the verdict

Alexandra Field, a CNN correspondent inside of the courtroom sent out a tweet at 1:14pm saying “11 of 12…jurors keep eyes on judge, one looks around the room…no visible reaction from tsarnaev as verdict is read.”

“[S]urvivors and family members of victims make no noise as each count is read, some of them actually on the edge of their seats” tweeted Field at 1:17pm as the counts were read one-by-one.

Tsarnaev’s actions in April 2013 were found to have led directly to the deaths of Krystle Campbell, Martin Richard, Lingzi Lu and Sean Collier.

It took just two days of deliberations for the jury to find Tsarnaev guilty after hearing 16 days of testimony.

Correspondents on the scene described Tsarnaev’s body language as non-reactive. As the verdict was read he stood with his head lowered and hands clutched, passively listening to his fate.

The Blazer will update this story as more details become available.
