Marvel, along with James Gunn, only seem to be providing us with the best kick-butt, action-packed adventures, which is exactly what is brought to the theaters with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”
The sequel brings back all the same characters we love, including Baby Groot. However, the audiences were also introduced with some new, interestingly snarky characters.
Without giving any spoilers, the plot consists of mercenary work, Baby Groot dancing for five minutes, (but lets be honest we would all love it) Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) briefly taking off his shirt (it was beautiful), and a search for family. Sort of.
Quill is reunited with his father, finally, but its Marvel so of course a hero’s parents are either dead or jerks, you only get one option to choose from there. Kurt Russell is introduced as Quill’s dad Ego and the lovely Pom Klementieff as the weirdo known as Mantis.
Even Sylvester Stallone makes an appearance with an accent we can almost understand. Of course, along with new cast members comes a new and improved soundtrack.
Still sticking to the ’80s vibe, Awesome Mixtape Vol. 2 provides an amazing retro(what other word would you use to describe the ’80s?) playlist that goes perfectly along with the story. “GOTG Vol.2” is definitely a hit for all ages, maybe 12 and up for a few raunchy scenes here and there.
Between the handsome Peter Quill, the terrifyingly beautiful Gamora (Zoe Saldana), and the grumpy, sarcastic and witty Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), you get the whole package.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is definitely a must-see, so give up studying for your finals and head to the theater already.
