JJC Foundation hosts annual 5K run
Runners, walkers and joggers of all ages gathered together at JJC on the morning of Oct. 2 to participate in this fall’s annual JJC Foundation 5K Run/Walk. The event is important for the JJC Foundation and college as it is one of the foundation’s largest fundraisers of the year, with all proceeds benefiting student scholarships and athletic programs. “This year we had over 300 participants between our inperson and virtual races, which exceeded last year’s numbers,” said Jennifer Davis, annual giving and alumni relations manager. In-person participants of the 5K were able to walk or run on JJC’s paved course that winds throughout the campus and natural areas. In addition to the different formats of races, there was also a 1-Mile Kids Wiley Run that took place before the 5K for youth participants. Participants of both the in-person and virtual races received a swag bag. All 5K participants received a longsleeved t-shirt and finisher’s medal, and the Kids Wiley Run participants received a stuffed animal. “Between the beautiful October weather, and the TCBY and Home Cut Donuts waiting at the finish line, I think participants really enjoyed their morning on campus,” said Davis, noting the success of the event for participants and the JJC Foundation.
