‘Puppies and PB&Js’ returns for finals week
On Monday, May 15 and Tuesday, May 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Main Campus bridge, therapy dogs and free peanut butter & jelly sandwiches will be available for students. The Office of Student Activities has been hosting this event since 2016 every semester in preparation for finals week.
This event is designed to support students’ health. Many scientific studies show that petting dogs can help alleviate anxiety and stress. Additionally, it can lower blood pressure, breathing, heart rate, and relieve muscle tension.
Besides the physical benefits, students will be able to grab a free comforting peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Sydney Hemker, a student at Joliet Junior College, is thrilled for this event.
“This event was such a slay. I am looking forward to the next event because it was fun!”
Christina Ulreich from the JJC Office of Student Activities and Wellness is also excited for this upcoming event.
“I am always excited for this event,” Ulreich said.
“My favorite part is seeing the smiles on the students’ faces as they walk up and see the bridge full of dogs for them to pet and hang out with. Many of them tell us that this is their favorite event on campus!”
Students are encouraged to stop by and relieve their stress with therapy dogs and free sandwiches.
