JJC introduces women’s wrestling

Joliet Junior College announced that women’s wrestling will be added as a competitive sport for next school year.
The announcement came during the Board of Trustees meeting on April 12.
“We look forward to expanding opportunities for women in the sport of wrestling,” JJC Athletic Director Gregg Braun said in the press release that came out April 24.
“The sport has been on our radar for some time, and we want a positive experience right out of the gate when adding to an already robust athletic department.”
Women’s wrestling will be the fifth recent addition to JJC’s athletic programs. It will join men’s and women’s bowling, men’s and women’s golf, and competitive cheerleading.
“We want JJC to continue to grow and align with the trends in athletics not only on a national level but a local level,” Braun said.
Braun is hopeful that these additions to the athletic department will make JJC a more appealing option for future student athletes.
“Adding women’s wrestling gives prospective student athletes another reason to consider the Wolves and make JJC their first choice in academics and athletics,” Braun said.
