Board Of Trustees Approves Faculty Union Contract

The JJC Board of Trustees reached a decision on a new faculty union contract at a meeting on Dec. 1.

According to a JJC press release, the board unanimously voted to approve the new faculty union contract effective from 2015 through 2019. The new contract will cover all 218 members of the JJC faculty union.

Besides providing monetary benefits for union members, the new union contract will improve service to students. Some of the highlighted benefits include increased contact between faculty and students, and overload oversight to improve student success.

Faculty Union President Robert Marcink said that he believes the contract will “serve students, the college, the community and the union members well.”

JJC President Debra Daniels said that she believed the contract will have a positive impact on “student success, operational efficiency, expense management, and performance management.”
